Stubborn Fire at 19 O'Conner Ave

These old balloon frame construction homes can be tough to put out when they catch fire. The spaces in the walls are often open from the basement to attic meaning that fire can easily travel through the walls.

Holyoke police charge 24-year-old Jose Trillo with arson of O'Connor Avenue home

He walked into the Sears Auto Center and asked store employees to call police because he just set fire to his home

Smokey fire in the Flats

The fire broke out in the garages behind the homes at 139 N East St, 128 Center, and 130 Center St Holyoke.

I was up on Beech St when I got a call that there was a fire in the Main St area so I walked all the way back down to the Flats.

The Holyoke fire dept did a good job getting it under control. There wasn't much to see by the time I got there. Very little fire, but a lot of smoke.

This is just 3 blocks from my house which now smells like roofing material on fire.
