Yet another empty space now. But hey, thanks for filling me in on this. I was wondering what was going to happen with that place.
I don't know of much that can happen with it. You can't build much on top of a site with gas tanks buried underneath it unless you mitigate it first, and that costs a medium fortune.
Hey JB, I linked a Republican article in my post that states the plan for property is to be redeveloped into a new gas station, and laundromat.
Hi, not a fan of this project. While the precedent for a gas station had been set by the previous owners, a gas station at a major gateway/ entry point to our downtown does not make sense in a more comprehension vision for planning our city.A community-driven planning process for the South Holyoke (http://www.votelisi.com//South%20Holyoke%20Revitalization%20Strategy%20013108%20final.pdf)neighborhoods cited this location for "signature" economic development. For more background info on this decision you can check out: http://www.votelisi.com/2008/08/land-swap-divides-council.html
Thanks for commenting Councilor Lisi. It's always great to hear from our elected officials, and learn more about what goes into their decision making process.
