Unmasked

DSC_0164

Holyoke rang in the new year with a Gala filled evening at the Wistariahurst Museum.

kicking off it's 50th year as a Holyoke Museum, the elegant Wistariahurst made a perfect backdrop for the event. Gala revelers enjoyed sumptuous food, and great music, all the while disguised under their masks.

Some of the revelers had never been to the Wistariahurst before, and they were somewhat amazed at the grandeur of the old mansion.

Being a Crush sponsored event there was a wide variety of people from all walks of life, and the Crush spirit permeated the discussions. Despite the current economic climate, Holyoker's were looking upbeat about 2009.

The colorful masks, and festive atmosphere inspired me to play with my photography by adding some subtle effects to a few of my photos.

The DJ suffered under the pressure of constant requests.

But everyone had a great time regardless of what music was being played.

At midnight everyone took off their masks, and toasted the new year.

I even allowed myself to be unmasked in a photo with fellow Crushers, (me standing in front).

Happy New Year Holyoke!

Wow, I have to admit (and don't be offended) I always pictured you as a grumpy 60 year old, maybe limping along with a bum knee or something! Looks like C.R.U.S.H. is doing well, and the Wistariahurst is beautiful..

LOL... It's funny that Tony said that. I too have always thought the same of you (no offense of course!). Looks like a great time was had by all! I've got to check Wistariahurst out... I've only lived in Holyoke for about 13 yrs...Nice pics as always!

LOL! Greg Saulmon from the Local Buzz said the exact same thing last summer, and Jeff Byrnes from Lenshare, standing next to him, totally agreed.

Hey! look what Max Posted.

Wow! I totally missed out! It looks like you had a great night. I wish I could have made it out. And yes, sadly I agreed with Greg, only because of the wealth of wisdom and knowledge you posses.

I have to agree. After I saw Rebecca's pictures posted to Facebook last night, I wondered if you had posted any (your pictures are always teriffic.) I googled your site because I don't have it bookmarked at home and the first return is another blogger that had "unmasked" you as well. When I saw the picture, I actually said "what!?" so loudly my husband came in from the other room.

So congratulations on not being some old deformed guy. :)

LOL! Thanks everyone, having a good laugh reading the comments.

Now I'm trying to figure out why my writing reads like I served in the Spanish-American war.

Reduce, you should come to the next Crush party at the end of the month. I guarantee you will have a great time meeting new people with similar interests to your own.

I really promise to try, where will it be and when?

It'll be at the Bungalow behind the Waterfront Tavern. It's not been posted yet, but should be on the last Thursday of the month.

Doesn't look very diverse to me!

VanDog said...

Now that just erks me!

I didn't say: "Diverse", I said: "there was a wide variety of people from all walks of life", and I stand behind that, 100 percent.

As for ethnic diversity. I thought we moved beyond taking note of people's skin color, or ethnic origin as a determiner. Perhaps the lack of gangster clothing confused you into thinking there was no one of color at the gala, because I assure you many of these peoples heritage is as diverse as my own.
