1941 - 2008I found the 1941 photograph in this post and immediatly recognized it as one of the hadley mills townhouses in the Flatts. It was the only picture in the series I could easily re-shoot. I tried a few other locations but found them technically impossible. Trees, bushes, fence in the way.

So much for the "Holyoke used to be a utopia" argument. It looks significantly better now!
If you look at the link which shows all the pictures and the context, you'll see that Holyoke didn't look too bad. The photo was from the housing prjects where the workers lived. Some other photos show Holyoke bustling with life.
